I used to have quite a number of boot images but have not used them for long time except acronis programs

It looks too much to me. Are you able to make Win7 iso bootable in USB stick?
ISO boot image is different from true emulation in your special DVD case.

冇試過用USB手指去做, 因為我只有1隻2G的USB手指, 平時都是用microSD+USB Card Reader去做USB手指的功能. 不過早幾晚試過用個ZM-VE200將部Dell notebook由Vista裝返做Win7, 沒有問題.

USB 2G is enough to me. I used traditional CD/DVD to install Linux or Windows 7.

哈哈! 有了ZM-VE200之後我就不用買這麼多吉碟了! 之前見過個friend整個CD包都係OS碟, 有點誇張! 想想如果臨時有一、兩隻碟要用但係漏帶了就麻煩了.

WIN 7 ISO 放入手指boot機安裝WIN 7 到 HDD，辨認絕對沒有問題，而且非常方便，速度快過用DVD 安裝很多很多很多，我試過幾次了。

Install Windows or Linux is just several times only. To me, the notebook has been installed 5 times at most. Once I got a good system, I will do a back up by Acronis True Image. Future changes are mainly restoration of the backup images.

For Linux, perhaps I have more experience than you.. Only install to test. I just need a rescue CD to do the first setup and then restore the working image from my tar backup.

我在想，现在有Portal Virtual ROM，速度比手指快很多，而用USB thumb drive也可以，但是会比较慢，而且一只手指哪有500G那么大呢？

沒有用過Portal Virtual ROM，但實際上它是Hard Disk，安裝速度的快慢次序，理應是:

Hard Disk > USB Flash Drive > CD/DVD

唔知Acronis True Image會不會有所不同呢? 因為我和個friend都覺得用backup裝機OS沒有那麼穩定, 都是喜歡重裝系統. 我公司電腦部的同事不管新機舊機都用backup去裝, 我就覺得不太穩定, 不過可能係因為他們是用國產甚麼番茄花園吧!

还有如果你角色USB Drive比较慢呢？你可以用ESATA Drive（ROM）去安装系统就会更加快。

It should not. Backup means a good OS system + drivers + most used apps. For Windows, all of us know it requires repeatedly update. My backup always goes up to the latest at the time of installation. Before the backup, I will also clear up the temp files.

For bootable DVD, did you try pebuilder in the past or winbuilder now? The program in the past allows multiple windows OS into a CD and other programmes to use in CD booted WinPE environment.

公司的同事相信大多數會用BACKUP Files 重裝，因為Fresh install 重新裝要很多時間，又要裝Drivers，又要重新 update OS patches，最後還要對個別電腦的個人化資料作設定，在實際運作上，根本不容許他們有這麼多時間去做，所以用Backup，多數是incremental backup files restore 是最有效率的方法。

個人自用可以慢慢執嘛。

我的USB启动手指：
一个DOS启动系统 + ghost 11，然后一些小工具 Arj、format .....。
没有用 Linux ，所以简单。

ghost是为了备份系统。通常在安装了系统，配置好驱动和一些常用的软件后，就会用ghost把系统备份起来，留待下次恢复时用。由于经常安装软件试用，然后又删除，所以，每半年到一年就会恢复一次。用ghost就省事好多。

通常有很多电脑的公司，都是先配置好一部电脑，clone它硬盘或Partition的image，然后Restore到其余的电脑中的，可以省下好多时间，也不容易出错...

應該不是指用市面的backup/ghost光碟來裝機, 我公司電腦部就是先配置好1部電腦, backup後再restore到其他電腦, 但是我覺得不太穩定.
