Plenty of mistake could be found

1) Population of key/certificate/pem files to DD-WRT should include header and trailer,
    ie. should begin from "-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----" to "----END CERTIFICATE-----" inclusive etc.

2) You populated the same file to CA Cert and Public Server Cert.

Suggest to use a broadcom based router (at least 4MB RAM) and flash it with  

DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/17/11) vpn-small - build 17084M NEWD Eko

Note: DO NOT flash this version on non-broadcom based router, such as 1043ND, may brick non-broadcom based router..

Follow the below tested working configuration

Different DD-WRT versions may have different screens and different problems/bugs etc..

Even the latest version does not guarantee bug-free..

If you can follow exactly on tested working version's configuration on suitable hardware, it can increase your chance of success and minimize your pain on learning/troubleshooting..
